Who Knew?
Apparently I lack patience. I kinda knew this already.. but my lack of patience has now been confirmed. I’ve always had an issue with surprises and I typically ruin them. I’m just so excited to share I can’t help myself (clearly I am four years old)!
As a kid, our presents were never under the tree till Christmas morning. Stockings remained empty, the tree skirt stayed bare. Silly me, I thought this whole time we were pretending it was because OF COURSE the presents wouldn’t show up till Santa came. Because we all know Santa doesn’t come till Christmas Eve.

At Sunday dinner I learned the true reason – my mother didn’t trust me to wait to open them. Turns out, my husband shouldn’t trust me either. We met up with his mother and sister in New York a few weeks ago and it has been torture to not open the presents they gave us. Our apartment is on the tiny side so these presents are staring me down at all times. The only safe place to be out of the line of present sight is the bathroom.
In the future… I think Nick will have to hide them from me – perhaps at my parent’s house since I can’t handle waiting and being an adult.
Are you able to wait? Do you ruin surprises too?

I am a terrible surprise ruiner. I cannot help myself! My husband on the other hand, can know his presents are unwrapped inside his stocking, or sitting under the tree in a half-opened amazon box for WEEKS and not take one peek. No idea how he does it.

We’re not religious and I really do not want to bring our children up to believe in Santa or to get copious amounts of presents on Christmas day. (90% of our Christmas gifts are donations in our friends/families names.) When my husband asked if we’d ever get our kids gifts we decided that New Years is an awesome time because a) gifts are cheaper and b) you get gifts all month long that way! We traded gifts this past weekend and have yet to leave a present under the tree. To us its pointless to wait to a specific day… (Or I’m just really REALLY impatient!)

Ummmmm…. I have already opened every single present I’ve received thus far this year. I was supposed to wait!?!? Oops!!

Sometimes, so no one knows I opened a gift, I will peek, then re-wrap it. I’m horrible.

Megan, really?! Rewrap?? That’s too funny
I’m terrible at waiting but usually end up guessing what I get ahead of time. Bad waiter + good guesser = kind of the same thing? Gah. Good luck waiting till Christmas!!

I don’t open them early but I totally shake/smell/feel them all! I am very crafty with my wrapping for that reason!
