US meets UK: I Can’t Believe We Forgot The….

Once I was safely in the air conditioning of the library, with a glass of champagne in my hand I began to relax. Everything would be fine, and if it wasn’t fine – it just didn’t matter.  Avocado assured me that if it did start to rain again, they’d whip all the chairs inside and no one would mind.

I had the purple shoes I had hunted for so long

Which as it turns out, were way more comfortable when I wore them to Hamster’s wedding than when I wore them at my own.

Our wedding rings were clean and shiny (after I ran to the mall earlier that morning to clean them)

I proceeded to finish the process of becoming a bride.

The highlights of getting ready in the library were:

One of my bm’s fake nails popped off into my shoe. If I hadn’t had so many undergarments holding me together – I probably would have peed my spanx.

The lace in my dress snagged, and I held my finger on the spot, while my prepared sister grabbed clear nail polish. Maybe this doesn’t sound funny when I type it out, but after the nail in the shoe incident, it was beyond funny to have one shoe on, holding a specific spot on my dress as through my life depended on it.

And the kicker for funniest moment?
When our officient came to the room and asked if I had the marriage certificate.

The exchange went like this:
(knock, knock)
Laura (officient): Hi Ms. D, do you have the marriage certificate?
Me: No, Mr.D has it in his backpack?
Laura: Oh, hmm, he says he thought you had it… let me go check with him again.
(knock, knock)
Laura: So, I want you to know that this isn’t a big deal, and we can just sign it later if it isn’t here, but.. are you sure you don’t have it? Mr.D is very worried you’ll be upset at him for forgetting it….
Me: hahahahahaah, I can see why he’d think that, but seriously, it isn’t a big deal and I really don’t care.
WE FORGOT THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE. You, know, the whole LEGAL part of the ceremony. Oops. #weddingFAIL
So I continued relaxing, primping and laughing with my girls– what else could I do?

Least you were able to laugh about it!

We wouldnt have been able to get married without our marriage certificate so our minister made us bring it to the reception so he could make sure it was there on the day!
