For My Birthday
I received several Amazon gift certificates from Nick’s wonderful side of the family. The obvious answer *might* be to purchase 398769476 kindle books. However, I could get something a wee bit more exciting. Who am I kidding, kindle books ARE exciting!!!!
Though really, it’s between these two items:
The (formerly named) Happy Farmer compost system:

I actually put this on our wedding registry because it gets pretty great reviews around the ‘net, is suitable for indoor use, requires no layering or turning and makes compost tea – which is great for an apartment dweller like myself.
Alternatively, I’ve kind of been coveting a sewing machine after seeing this dress post on While Baby Was Sleeping (I’m not having a baby, I just followed her over from Jenna’s blog) and she’s really inspired me to want to sew!
Will this sewing machine be up to the job? I hope so! I’d mostly like to make pillows, dresses and tops. I think I *could* get into quilting, but that is a very big maybe…

So, what say ye? Do you have either of the items? Which would you purchase? Do you have a sewing machine- any recommendations?

Aahh…the indoor composter. The next thing you wanted besides a dog.
I don’t own either of these and the idea of me sewing is somewhat laughable. Do you remember the Cosby Show Gordon Gartrelle episode? That’s what I would do.

@Terri I’m a little fearful of that myself!

Sewing machine!! I got this very model for my birthday last year and I LOVE it. I’ve used it for so many projects now (including pillows, a quilt, the ties for our wedding, and many other projects) – now I’m dying to make the dress you linked to. If it turns out you don’t like sewing, you could always sell it and buy the compost system

Totally get the composter. I convinced myself a while ago that I needed a sewing machine. I’ve used it all of twice to make minor alterations to clothes. And I screwed up both times. But then again, maybe that’s because I’m totally not skilled at crafty stuff like that.

Happy birthday!! That’s the exact sewing machine I have and I LOOOOVE it. It does pretty much every function most beginning sewers need and comes with all the different feet and needles and stuff.

I don’t know about the compost system, but I have that exact same sewing machine. I got it for my birthday last night. I’ve only done a few small projects but I’m about to start another one this weekend. So far I love it and it wasn’t that hard to pick up! (By the way, my choices were that sewing machine or Kindle books too!

I’m not sure, but I have to say, if you get a sewing machine, it may require you to someday handcraft your children’s halloween costumes. just sayin
Is it your birthday TODAY? It’s my ma’s if it is. Hoot!
