Professional and Amateur Photographers, Have You Considered?

Friday, May 14th, 2010

I don’t have the skill set to do this, but as I was browsing Petfinder.com I noticed this particular adorable pug.

What I think helped this little guy stand out from the rest is that he has a pro photo. With a watermark! So I checked her out. Mary Swift is a professional pet photographer, who helps out the Baltimore Humane Society. I love her work, and love her charitable attitude too! Since 2004 she has been volunteering as a photographer for shelters and rescue groups and has photographed more than 3,000 pets to date.

Shelter dogs need good homes, and photos with them looking crazy, with glowing eyes, in bad lighting, ultra grainy – can’t be helpful to their cause.

If you’re a photography enthusiast who can shoot on something other than Auto – please consider contacting a local shelter or rescue to help them out. I’m sure they (and the puppies!) would greatly appreciate it.

Trying to pick a paint color

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

is tough! Since it’s DC law that apartments must be painted in between tenants – our property manager said we could pick the colors and they’d paint for us. Which is a pretty sweet deal because I hate painting.

Currently, our apt is a bit… easter eggy. (please excuse the mess and lack of a desk)

That is a beige/sesame color on the kitchen wall and a seriously seafoam green on the other walls

more seafoam

a pale pastel blue bedroom with an unmade bed. There is also a vibrant, loud lavender in the bathroom.

Individually these colors might not be so bad….but in reality, they flow together to promote a seriously eater/pastel/child-like feeling.

We’re considering cream for the living room (it gets the least amount of light), blue for the kitchen and a purple for the bedroom and a complimentary purple for the bathroom.

Any suggestions on picking paint colors?
