Some Couples Take Photos of Marriage Certificates…

While I’m sure we will too we’re not at that time yet, so instead we went all the way down to London for an equally important doctor’s appointment.  Prior to receiving an interview date with the US Embassy Mr.D had to go to a specific doctor in London to make sure he is fit enough to enter the US.

After a 3 hour wait we were free! We had a RECEIPT! Records have been sent to the embassy! Huzzah! We took advantage of our government mandated London trip to do a few touristy things, such as check out Harrods, swing by Tiffanys/clean my ring, as well as eat Laduree macarons and have a picnic in St. James park.  It was heavenly.

Have you had any unexpected joys in wedding planning?

ps. Those macarons ARE as good as everyone says.

    (Delurking!)

I went down to LondonTown over the bank holiday with my American visitor and my English MIL and GMIL. A first visit for the American and the first in at least a decade for the locals!! I was the one leading them around down and up and down the tube station stairways. Silly, trusting souls…!

My one regret of the visit was that we didn’t get any macaroons. I didn’t think about it until we walked out of Harrods at closing time and saw them on display in a display window. How did you know??? We had a lovely macaroon spread in lieu of a wedding cake and I haven’t had any of the nostalgia inducing sweets in the eight months since the wedding. Next time, for sure! Although… I do have a Paris visit in my future which could get me my macaroon fix even sooner!

By the way, I’m taking extensive notes on your visa application process incase we ever decide to leave the rain-soaked-but-generous-holiday-allocation-UK for the US!

Christina – I find your comment extra funny because we have the exact same debate! weather vs. vacation days! Thanks for Delurking – you should definitely get macarons the next time – they were AMAZING. I’d love to have them at our wedding!

By the way – this past weekend has added quite a few points in the US’s column – my family there are enjoying “practically summer” weather while we’ve been grey, damp and HAILED ON for the past week! The forecast is meant to pull through for the bank holiday weekend… here’s hoping (and to getting some work done in the garden… or better yet, going for a good ramble!)
