So…I’m a slob
I’m not dirty you see, I like things germ free. I’m just very very messy. A pair of socks here, 10 pairs of shoes there, 4 sweaters over the chair…a towel on the floor. Yeah, I’m only telling you half the things I see as I look around.

Now being a slob is fine when you live by yourself, or if you slob it all up in your room and leave the common spaces neat for your roommates. But living with Mr. D I’ve found it much harder to slob it up in our bedroom because apparently we have to share our space. What’s all that about?
So although Mr.D and I made joint resolutions for the new year (buy local, use our reusable bags EVERY TIME and no more swearing) I wanted to make one of my own. For me, its time to get neat, while I may be good at keeping bathrooms germ free I really need to work on picking up after my self and others. I even found this snazzy blog : The Hyper Homemaker.
Now you might think the Hyper Homemaker has always been as such, but really she used to be like ME! She confesses that she too was once messy AND she hated doing the dishes (me too!!!). So I figure, if she can do it, so can I! She gives helpful tips on how to have a “Simply Organized 2009″ by helping you to make a plan. She selected specific days to do specific areas:
Monday: Outside / Garden
Tuesday: Kitchen
Wednesday: Bathrooms
Thursday: Living areas
Friday: Bedrooms
Saturday: Laundry
Sunday: Off
Where am I starting? In our closets or rather lack of closets, because in our house in England we don’t have closets. We’ll pick out things that we can give away to charity and things to throw away or sell. I also enjoy her “Works for me Wednesday” and “Fifteen Minute Friday” features which help me to stay on top of things and also give me new ways to stay organized. I hope I can keep my personal resolution because once MR. D and I have a place to call our own I’d like to be able to find our cats again.
Any of you co-habitators out there try to bridge the gap between messy and neat? What are your favourite tips?
