US meets UK

If you can name the movie that I stole that from, you get mad props.

In any case, today I will tell you the story of how Mr.D’Orsay and I met.

I had been living/working in Tucson, Arizona (GO WILDCATS!) and had traveled a TON in the past month or so. So much, that I had several open suitcases form various trips that I had been cannibalizing into other suitcases because I didn’t even have time for laundry. I received a call from my boss asking if I could do her a favor and fly to Austin, TX for a few days. As I had always wanted to go to Austin, I immediately said yes!

The next day instead of taking my 5pm flight that would get me into Austin at midnight, I went standby on an earlier flight and ended up in Austin around 7pm. I met up with my friends who were in town and we headed out to dinner and then to the bars. We all decided to go upstairs and just as I turned the corner I was hit in the face with an elbow! I could see it belonged to tall attractive man, and so we struck up a conversation.

A few hours later after we had been talking non-stop his friends had to leave; they were all from the UK and were in town for the South by Southwest interactive conference so they all had an early start the next day. I kept dropping vague hints about hoping to see him again, that I’d probably be out again the next night etc. but to my dismay he left.

I went back down and danced with my friends when I felt a tap on my shoulder! He was back and he asked for my number! The next day, after each of us struggled to figure out how to send an international text we met up for coffee and walked and talked around Austin for over 6 hours! We stopped in an amazing jazz bar, walked down by the river, checked out the capitol grounds and university campus- it was magical. We were both exhausted though so we headed home to our respective lodgings. The next day I flew back to Arizona and the rest I’ll share with you in March on a very special day.
