Where to?
Nick and I are hoping to travel a fair amount during our time back in the UK. We originally had a huge list, but that has since been scaled down due to the falling exchange rate and general crappy economy.
The short list of countries are: France, Poland, Italy, Switzerland and maybe the Netherlands or Spain/Portugal. Trust me, its really hard to shave this list down!!!!
In terms of cities, Paris definitely made the cut, but we don’t know where to begin in Italy! As for the other cities/countries we chose Krackow in Poland and Switzerland because I’d really like to see a glacier before they’re all gone.
Any ideas on Italy? If you’ve ever been or have any advice for where we should go it would be greatly appreciated. We’re looking into Rome, Tuscany, Venice or Florence, so if you’d like to suggest a city over another, or offer a fresh choice I’d be grateful!
ps. Just remember we’re going in the winter!!!!

I pretty much check your site all the time since I’m bored at work! Ok as for Italy, Rome is a MUST. The Vatican is incredible so are the ruins. Plus tons of other landmarks/awesome places to visit. Florence is wonderful if you are down with visiting museums/churches. If you are looking for a daytrip, Capri or Naples are fun as well. Both are on the coast. I’ve been to Venice twice, and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand there is no city like it and the architecture is beautiful. On the other hand, it is so so touristy and last time I was there the water level was so high we couldn’t walk around the main square and we couldn’t do a whole lot.
So jealous you are going to Krakow, I planned to go but my flight was canceled by stupid Ryan Air at the last minute!

I would def talk to Shaan and Megan. Since they both basically back-packed through all of Europe. I can only tell you about Germany and Spain… And since Spain is the only one of your list I would say you must go to Madrid and Barcelona.

Definitely recommend Tuscany, Rome & Paris. You can see most of the sights in a couple of days at each though. Also Krakow is great but pretty cold in the winter. There are a couple of bars I can recommend that Nick would like
Also if you want a trip round a vineyard in Italy, France, Spain or Portugal let me know and I’ll see what I can do. Could possible also get you a look around one in Champagne but need lots of notice.

um, wow, yes?! I’d love to tour a vineyard in Champagne! It just depends when its best for Nick to go since I won’t really be working over there. I’ll make sure he gets back to you!

@Ade
I didn’t even know you’d been to Italy, did I?? Would be awesome if you could arrange those things for us.
Please email me off the record with details of “those” bars.
